Pase Brace Inspires City Win

Words: Matt Dorman

Alistair Pase scored twice as Brisbane City recovered from a goal down to beat Taringa Rovers 3-2 on Sunday night.

Pase’s brace inspired City’s turnaround as the former PlayStation® 4 NPL Queensland Grand Finalists sealed the come-from-behind victory through Bronson Koppen.

Schon Hansen earlier handed Rovers a surprise opener against the run of play in the 10th minute, forcing Glen Volker’s side into action.

Matt Biggins answered the call, crossing for Pase to head back across goal and level matters midway through the first half.

Pase was again on the end of a cross eight minutes from the break, tapping home from Ryan Robinson’s delivery to make it 2-1.

Koppen added a spectacular third after the restart with a long-range piledriver, only for Lewis Teevan to head Taringa within one inside the final 15 minutes.

City held on, though, to record a second straight friendly victory ahead of the new season.

The Newmarket club next meet Capalaba FC in the BLK Silver Boot on Wednesday night.
