Strikers Surge Past Lightning

Brisbane Strikers continued their winning start to pre-season with a 3-0 win over Logan Lightning in their BLK Silver Boot pre-season fixture on Tuesday.
Jheison Macuace delivered Strikers the perfect start only four minutes into the contest, heading home courtesy of a cross from Scot Coulson.
The two-time PlayStation® 4 NPL Queensland Semi-Finalists received a scare midway through the first-half when Lightning struck the crossbar with a strike from distance.
The teams continued to exchange counter-punches in the second half but it wasn’t until the final five minutes that Strikers increased their margin.
Macuace netted his second with a low finish after being supplied by Trent Clulow before Jonti Richter, who entered the contest as a second half substitute, rounded out the scoring with a looping shot in the final minute of regular time.
Strikers fielded a strong starting eleven for the match including off-season recruits Clulow, Grieg Henslee and Josh Ahern in addition to familiar faces Coulson, Greg King and Michael Turnbull in goal.
Strikers continue their pre-season preparations against PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland rivals Olympic FC next Tuesday night in the competition’s second round of group fixtures.
