Brisbane City FC skipper Mat Biggins has re-signed with the 2013 PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland Grand Finalists for next season, the club has confirmed.

The brooding midfielder has been the lynchpin in the centre of the City formation for the past two seasons, making 43 appearances in PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland competition.

Following the team’s inconsistent 2014 season Biggins said he was hoping to guide City to a top four finish and even silverware in the next campaign.

“I’m definitely looking to improve on last year, make the finals and try and win the thing,” Biggins said.

The Englishman has scored 14 goals for City over the past two campaigns, making him second top goalscorer for the club in PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland.

However, he said he remains less concerned with hitting the back of the net as he is with winning games.

“I guess depending on where the manager wants to play me I will look to get goals, but I’d rather jag three points than score goals any day.”

To that end, Biggins said a full season from re-signed star striker Antonio Murray will be crucial to the club’s attack.

“I think one of the things we missed last year was that we didn’t have an out-and-out goalscorer, so having him in the team is going to be a big bonus.”

The 29-year-old added that an improved performance in the Westfield FFA Cup was also high on the club’s priority list following an ignominious exit at the first hurdle against community club Logan Lightning last season.

“We didn’t realise what a big thing the cup was going to be. We went out in the first round and it would definitely be good to progress as far as we can in that next year.”

He also said the vibe in pre-season training was positive and that it coincided with a renewed vigour and optimism in the City’s operations behind-the-scenes.

“There is a confidence around the club now and that translates onto the field and hopefully we can turn it into points when the season comes around,” Biggins concluded.
