Eoghan Murphy and Troy Ruthven received the major honours at Palm Beach SC’s Senior Awards Presentation on Saturday night on the Gold Coast.

Fullback Murphy was recognised for his outstanding season with the Coach’s Award, while midfielder Ruthven was honoured by his teammates with the Players’ Player Award.

Sharks proved to be the stand-out team in PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland competition this season, winning their first Premiership and Grand Final titles in the competition's second season.

They also were the last Queensland club remaining in the inaugural Westfield FFA Cup, advancing to the Quarter Finals before being eliminated by Hyundai A-League powerhouse Central Coast Mariners.

Ruthven thanked his teammates for his Players’ Player honour , which recognised his 24 appearances and six goals in the PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland season.

“The award is truly appreciated, as the whole playing group voted on this,” Ruthven said.

“Given the amount of quality players in our squad and the success we have had it really is special,” he added.

Sharks coach Grae Piddick acknowledged the entire squads contributions to the club’s successful 2014 campaign and called on the club to build on their 2014 returns next year.

Congratulations to the entire squad, it has been an unbelievable season and the success is due to their hard work,” he said.

“The challenge for the whole club is to lift the standard in 2015 and become more professional in all areas.”

“In 2014 we got to play against professional clubs particuarly the Mariners and although the experience was great and we held our own for 70 minutes next year we ultimately want to be competing with them for 90 minutes and getting a result.”

“We need to be aiming high and setting the standard,” Piddick concluded.

Sharks PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland youth and juniors were recognised at separate awards night in recent weeks.
