Brisbane Roar continued their pre-season preparations against NPL Queensland opposition with a 3-0 win over Brisbane City at Ballymore on Friday night.

Jai Ingham’s brace was complemented by a second half strike from Connor O’Neill as Roar dispatched a youthful City side that featured eight players under the age of 18.

City weren't without chances in the match, with Chris Toovey heading wide of the goal early in the contest before Ingham opened the scoring on 12 minutes.

The former Olympic FC player snuck his shot in at the near post after he was teed up by George Lamadaridis.

City created further chances through Ryan Roderick, Nathan Bird and Yoshi Sakurai but were unable to restore parity prior to the break.

Five minutes after the restart, Luca Perico saw his long-range screamer scrape the crossbar for City.

O’Neill, who played for Roar’s Youth side in this year’s NPL Queensland campaign, doubled Roar’s advantage shortly after, converting from close range on 55 minutes.

Bird and Buckley called on Roar goalkeeper Michael Theo to make a pair of saves as City attempted to fight back.

Dan Sharov and 16 year old Simon Biel also threatened for City before Ingham sealed the result five minutes from full-time with a long range strike.

The match was the second of two games for Roar on Friday, with the defending Hyundai A-League Champions fielding a mix of senior and youth players in both matches.

Central Coast Mariners drew with Roar 1-1 in the first match as the Gosford club prepares for their Westfield FFA Cup match against Olympic FC on Tuesday night at QSAC.
