Moreton Bay United overpowered Gold Coast City 3-0 at Wolter Park on Saturday night to all but end GCC's Premiership hopes.

The home side put on an impressive display of football, stunning the previous league-leaders with two goals inside the opening five minutes.

GCC needed to win this game and hope for a Brisbane Strikers slip-up on Sunday to have any chance at claiming a Premiership. Barring a 13-0 loss to Brisbane Olympic, Strikers will claim back-to-back Premierships.

GCC must now regroup before hosting a Semi Final next weekend.

Jets' win means they will qualify for the top four if Olympic lose to Strikers.

Jets captain Alex Janovsky set the pace for his side very early, scoring a beautifully struck ball from distance. He then sealed the 3-0 win with his second goal in the 51st minute.

Key Moments

2’ GOAL FOR JETS – Captain Alex Janovsky has time and space from 22 yards out, he lets fly with a sweetly struck low drive inside the right post.

4’ GOAL FOR JETS – Stephen Green seizes on an under-hit back pass and steers the ball past Stein from 12 yards.

15’ CHANCE FOR GOLD COAST – Ethan-Joseph Grimley puts in a cross, Sam Smith launches himself at the ball from six yards out, but his header flies wide.

51’ GOAL FOR JETS – Donggyu Lee slips past one defender, plays Cameron Millar into space, he pulls the ball back from the byline and Janovsky picks his spot from 10 yards out.

54’ CHANCE FOR GOLD COAST – Defender Matthew Schmidt tries his luck from 20 yards out but the ball drifts over the crossbar.

77’ CHANCE FOR GOLD COAST – Jacob Boutoubia lets fly from 25 yards, but sees his well-struck effort slip wide of the far post.
