The Gap FC have knocked Eastern Suburbs FC out of the top-four after a 2-1 victory at Heath Park on Saturday night.

Easts were desperate for a home win to keep three points ahead of fifth placed University of Queensland FC, however an own goal from Georgia Foote early in the match gave Gators the upper-hand.

Ruth Blackburn scored her 20th goal of the season to extend the lead and keep UQFC’s top-four hopes alive, as Lauren Spreadborough’s late goal was only a consolation.

For Easts to finish in the top-four, they now need to win their tough match-up against first placed Peninsula Power at Heath Park on this coming Sunday, and for UQFC to lose to South West Queensland Thunder later that night at Lions Stadium.

Gators will line up against Sunshine Coast FC at Walton Bridge Reserve on Saturday night with second place already secured.
