Peninsula Power have held their spot at the top of the PS4 NPLW QLD table with a comfortable 4-0 victory at Wakerley Park on Sunday evening.

The Power were too strong for fellow finals contender Souths United, who still remain safe in third place despite the result.

Four separate scorers found the net for the visitors in what is their 16th win from 17 matches this season.

It took only 11 minutes for Brooke Barbuto to break the deadlock when she capitalised on a loose ball following a longe-range strike from Jenny Chiu.

The Power weren’t able to double their lead until the shadows of half-time when Alexandra Schaefer popped out and buried a strike from distance.

The visitors were showing just why they’re the runaway leaders atop the table and they all but secured the points as Sarah Elnicky headed home with a tad over 20 minutes to play.

Ten minutes later and the points were secure as Chiu turned beneficiary to beat Souths goalkeeper Chloe Cole one-on-one.

Both sides finish the regular season on the road next round with the Power travelling to play Eastern Suburbs while Souths play Olympic.

Key Moments

5’ – CHANCE FOR POWER – Kelly Jenks dribbles through the Souths defence and shoot towards goal with an effort that ricochets off the right upright.

40’ – GOAL FOR POWER – Alexandra Schaefer wins the ball in midfield before moving forward and striking towards goal. Cole is able to get a fingertip to the shot, but the ball finds the top corner.

68’ – GOAL FOR POWER – A Power corner is accurately placed into the six-yard box and Sarah Elnicky gets her head on the end of it, heading into the top-right corner.

78’ – GOAL FOR POWER – Chiu skims past the Souths defence, going through one-on-one with Cole before finding the back of the net via the bottom of the right post.
