University of Queensland have kept their PS4 NPLW QLD top-four hopes alive with a 1-0 win over Sunshine Coast FC on Sunday afternoon.

A goal in the opening stages from Lana Harch proved to be the difference between the sides as the Fire suffered their 15th loss of the season.

Harch’s fifth-minute goal broke the deadlock and was followed by a number of solid chances for the visitors.

Harch was again in the action as was Georgia Chapman, but it was Carmel Murphy-Pollard who came closest to doubling the lead with a shot cannoning off the crossbar.

Jacquelyn Ellis was the instigator of the Fire’s best chances either side of the break, but was unable to direct her shot on target on either occasion.

Harch again almost doubled the lead late in the second half, but UQ were forced to settle for a one-goal victory.

Both sides play late fixtures next Sunday with UQ hosting SWQ Thunder while the Fire travel to face The Gap.
