Peninsula Power have extended their lead at the top of the PS4 NPLW QLD ladder with a barnstorming 11-goal win over SWQ Thunder.

The Power piled on seven second-half goals to run away with the contest against the seventh-placed Thunder, which sees the visitors move further clear of Souths United at the summit.

Brooke Barbuto scored in both halves to complete a hat trick while Alexandra Schaefer, Vicky Lines and Jenny Chiu all bagged braces.

Barbuto opened the scoring on eight minutes with a shot that beat Thunder keeper Natasha Woodside in the air before Schaefer converted a free kick 13 minutes later.

The visitors would score twice again before the break with Barbuto turning provider for Lines before a solo effort had Lines a brace in the shadows of the break.

If the contest wasn’t buried at half-time, it was minutes later as Chiu joined in on the fun four minutes into the second stanza.

The Power then ran riot, netting five goals in the space of 14 minutes. Barbuto scored her second and third, Chiu and Schaefer polished braces and Ashley Doyle got her name on the scoreboard as the Power reached double figures.

Kelly Jenks finished off a glorious afternoon for the Power on the cusp of full-time with her first goal of the game.
