Young Roar Hit Glory For Six

Brisbane Roar Youth secured their first three points of the Foxtel National Youth League season with a comprehensive 6-0 win over Perth Glory Youth on Sunday.

Young Roar dominated the contest from the get-go Dorrien Gardens in the Western Australia capital from, with Joseph Katebian leading the list of scorers with a brace.

The hosts playing their first match of the campaign - saw early chances in the breezy conditions but were denied the alertness and reflexes of Young Roar goalkeeper Tomislav Bilic in the opening exchanges.

On the quarter hour, Young Roar found drew first blood when Mark Rodic converted from a corner amidst a goalmouth scramble.

The emboldened visitors fashioned further chances before Joseph Katebian curled a shot into the top corner just after the half hour and Shannon Brady converted another just minutes later for a three-goal half-time lead.

Glory Youth sought a comeback with a flurry of opportunities in the second stanza, but again Young Roar continued to hold firm before icing the contest in the final half-hour.

Katebian struck his second on 61 minutes with a composed finish from a cutback before Nicholas Panetta put the result beyond any doubt only four minutes later.

Substitute Joseph Champness completed the visitors haul after turning home a deflected cross with fifteen minutes remaining, while Glory Youth's were spared further damage by several saves from goalkeeper Nic Feeley in the closing stages.

 

The win lifts Young Roar to second place in Conference A of the Foxtel National Youth League behind leaders Melbourne City Youth, who defeated Melbourne Victory Youth 3-0 on Saturday.

In Conference B, Sydney FC Youth defeated FFA Centre of Excellence 4-1 in Sydney, while Western Sydney Wanderers Youth drew 1-1 Central Coast Mariners Youth alos in Sydney.

Young Roars next match is at home to Conference leaders City Youth in a fortnights time, with the club sitting out the next round with a bye.
