Olympic FC Women are through to their first PlayStation 4 NPL Women’s Queensland Grand Final after defeating Souths United Women 2-0 at Wakerley Park.

The visitors made the perfect start to the contest when Kristi New opened accounts just three minutes in with her first goal of the season.

Souths fashioned several chances to level terms but couldn’t get the better of the Olympic defence before Elizabeth Doherty sealed the win for the visitors with ten minutes remaining.

The win is Olympic’s first against Souths this season and means they will line-up against Premiers The Gap FC Women in next weekend’s Championship decider.

For Souths, the defeat ends their best ever return in PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues Women’s competition.

Fixture details for the PlayStation 4 NPL Women’s Queensland Grand Final will be announced by Football Queensland during the week.

What They Said

“Obviously, congratulations to Olympic for winning the game and they deserved to win. It’s disappointing for us but full credit to them. I felt as a team today we didn’t see to get the second ball that comes loose and nothing seemed to run for us today. Sometimes that happens in football.“ – Gary French, Souths United FC Women coach
