Sunshine Coast FC Women have concluded their season with a fifth straight win – seeing off University of Queensland FC Women 2-0 at University of Queensland Field 3.

Danielle White and Samara Christmas continued their prolific finish to the 2016 campaign with a goal apiece for the Fire, who will sit out the final round of the season with a bye.

White’s goal was her eighth of the season, while Christmas’ fifteenth sees her claim the mantle of Fire’s top goal scorer for the first time in PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues Women's.

The win lifts Fire into the top half of the table for the first time this year, however, they must rely on SWQ Thunder Women dropping points next week to match last year’s finish.

For UQFC, the result ends a two-match winning streak ahead of their final match of the season next week.

What They Said

“I think today was a massive defensive effort. We were on the back foot from the start and defended most of the game. The defenders did brilliantly. When we tried to get a fast transition going forward we had some chances but unfortunately couldn’t put it away.“ – Danielle Harbot, University of Queensland FC goalkeeper

“I feel that we could’ve scored more goals but their goalkeeper, Dani, was extremely good today. We couldn’t get it past her most of the time. That was our last game and I think we finished off all right. We finished with a win and got to be happy with the season.“ – Samara Christmas, Sunshine Coast FC Women attacker
