Fenech Departs As Olympic TD

Olympic FC have confirmed that Joe Fenech has stepped down from his role as Technical Director at the club.
Olympic made the announcement via their website and Facebook page on Monday, however, rumours of Fenech’s departure had been widely circulating through the football community for at least a fortnight.
The announcement ends Fenech’s fourth tenure at a PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues club, after previous stints at CQFC Energy, FNQ Heat and SWQ Thunder.
Current men’s head coach Terry Kirkham, who holds an AFC 'A' Licence, will step into the role of acting Technical Director for the remainder of the season, with the club statement saying a full-time appointment “will be made shortly.”
The Olympic Men’s team – who remain in the hunt for a fourth consecutive top four finish - will be now be coached for the final two rounds of the regular season by Ali Demircan.
Demircan previously worked with Kirkham at Moreton Bay United, where Demircan was coach of Jets Youth team, and at third-tier club Peninsula Power.
Olympic President Peter Ioannidis acknowledged Fenech’s contribution since joining the club in late 2015.
“Olympic Football Club wishes to thank Joe Fenech for fulfilling the role of Technical Director for the 2016 football season,” read Ioannidis’ statement on the club Facebook page.
“We appreciate the tremendous work and his tireless efforts in overseeing and organizing the club since taking over as Technical Director in late 2015.”
“It was a mammoth task, which he completed in his usual methodical manner.”
“His infections love and desire of everything football will be sorely missed by all at the club, and we hope he will return to see us regularly in the future.”
“We wish Joe and his family well and know he will succeed, as he always does, in everything regarding football,” the statement concluded.
Fenech’s final public statement as Technical Director was issued a fortnight ago and called for parents to cease pressuring coaches regarding team selections in the club’s junior ranks.
