A five goal second half blitz has helped Souths United Women to a commanding 6-0 win over Western Pride Women at Wakerley Park.

Deeanna Thompson and Ayesha Norrie both struck doubles for the hosts to all but wrap up the win just after hour, before Amy Moreland and Phoebi Clissold each netted their first ever PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues Women's goals to ice the result.

The win sees South reclaim second place in the standings from Eastern Suburbs Women, who temporarily edged ahead after defeating Sunshine Coast FC Women earlier in the day.

Pride remain in seventh on the table and 14 points shy of the top four.

What They Said

“In the first-half they really closed us down and were quite aggressive and played well. We were a little bit more patient in the second half and then we finally broke them down. That’s why we scored the goals.“ – Gary French, Souths United FC Women coach

“To go down to that second goal quite quickly (in the second half) that was the big turning point. Having said that we did try to attack after that and probably should’ve come back and made it 2-1. But that’s football.“ – Len Manwaring, Western Pride FC Women coach
