SWQ Thunder Women have appointed a third head coach for 2016 with the club promoting Anthony Bigby to the top job for the remainder of the season.

Bigby, who has previously held the roles of Chairman and Youth Women’s coach at Thunder, steps into the position following the departure of Ken Bosence for work-related reasons.

The appointment is the team’s second coaching reshuffle of the campaign after Bigby and Bosence were originally installed in support of Keren Thomas at the beginning of the season.

Bigby took charge of Thunder for their 7-0 weekend win over Redlands United and will guide the Finals Series contenders for their remaining eight matches.

The outgoing Bosence, formerly with FNQ Heat, will remain connected with the team and has expressed a desire to return to the position in 2017.

“I’ve worked closely with Anthony to get to where we are. We’ve done plenty of hard work this season both on and off the pitch,” Bosence said.

“I’m sure Anthony will continue to steer the team as if I was still there.

“I intend to Skype in to the team talks before each match to show the ladies my continuing support.”

Thunder return home to Clive Berghofer Stadium this Sunday with the chance to put seven points between them and the visiting Gold Coast City Women.
