Tegan Riding and Eastern Suburbs FC Women have again run riot – the striker netting six goals as she and her teammates dismantled Redlands United Women 13-0 at Heath Park.

The visitors provided scant resistance as Easts took the lead inside the opening minute via Michaela Hatzirodos before Nikkita Hubbard, Susanne McKeen, Riding and Yvonne Mathis also struck to establish an insurmountable five goal half-time advantage.

Riding, who netted seven goals in her last start, then struck a further five in a relentless second stanza that also saw Hatzirodos and Mathis each secure a double, while Harkana Dixon also chimed in.

Riding's haul takes her season's tally to 15 goals and sees her move to third in the Golden Boot race.

The result marks the second straight thirteen goal win for Easts after dismantling Peninsula Power Women by the same margin in their last outing and sures up their hold on fourth position in the league table.

For Redlands, the result continues a frustrating debut season in PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues Women’s competition that sees the side without a win in ten matches and without a goal to their credit since April.

What They Said

“No disrespect to the oppositions we have played in the past couple of weeks but we’ve got a hard run coming in the next few weeks. We’re building towards those and we used tonight and the match before to knuckle down on a few specifics and we will bring those forward for when we play the likes of The Gap and Souths and Olympic. We will know our roles and be able to perform them. “ – Brody Sams, Eastern Suburbs FC Women assistant coach

“I think definitely we can get stronger on the ball. We are used to practicing against ourselves so maybe we need to start practicing against boys or someone tougher that can get the younger ones used to playing strong, physical football. We got knocked off the ball a few times we shouldn’t have and that’s something we need to learn from. “ – Christina Byrd, Redlands United Women

“It’s beneficial playing against these players and the W-League players in the squads like The Gap, Souths and Easts. We’ve got a really young squad and it’s our first year together and it was about putting a team on the field for us. But we will work on that for next season, we’re just trying to keep the team together this season and work on it from there.“ – Whitney Howson, Redlands United Women
