Western Pride continued their heavy pre-season schedule with a promising win over a Brisbane Premier League powerhouse on Tuesday night.

Pride Put Friendly Bite On Lions

BRIGGS ROAD SPORTS COMPLEX | Western Pride netted a goal in each half to see off an understrength Lions FC 2-1 in their latest pre-season friendly.

Geoff McIntyre opened the scoring for Pride just before the half-hour – controlling at the back post before turning in a composed finish.

Gabriel Hawash then extended his perfect pre-season record from the penalty spot to double the advantage early in the second half after Pride Youth prospect Boni Thomas was dragged down inside the penalty area.

Lions pulled a goal back midway through second stanza in bizarre circumstances – players from both sides halting as the ball appeared to cross the byline, enabling an unharried Jason Tobin to deliver a crafty finish.

With one eye on Thursday’s BLK Silver Boot Semi-Final, Lions were without several key players for the match.

Pride continue their pre-season against Gold Coast outfit Murwillumbah this Saturday.

Western Pride FC  2 (Geoff MCINTYRE 25’, Gabriel HAWASH 50’p)
Lions FC  1 (Jason TOBIN 70’)
