Jets See Off North Pine

Moreton Bay United

Words: Michael Flynn

Moreton Bay United’s pre-season continues to hum along after surviving a second half fightback to see off North Pine SC 3-2 at Bob Brock Park on Tuesday night.

Goals to Jordan Farina and Jackson Hall earned Jets craft a comfortable two goal margin at the half before Joshua Masters pulled a goal back for the hosts in the second stanza.

An own goal with 20 minutes remaining restored the visitors buffer, with James Fairgrieve’s late penalty only serving as consolation for the Brisbane Premier League side.

Jets showed their intent early when 2015 Grand Final hero Farina cut inside and slotted a low finish inside the opening ten minutes.

Further opportunities to defender Scott Stewart and midfielder Reyze Kelly failed to find the target before Hall doubled the advantage prior to the half hour with a tap-in from Taiga Ishikura’s cross.

Ishikura threatened with a pair of chances early in the second half before a handball afforded North Pine the chance to reduce the margin – Masters pouncing on the follow-up after Matthew Bradley’s spot-kick was blocked by Jets goalkeeper Matt Stein.

Jets quickly restored a two goal buffer only minutes later when North Pine’s defence bundled the ball into their own net under heavy pressure from Stewart.

However, the defender’s evening was slightly soured by conceding a handball in the dying stages, allowing Fairgieve to score from the penalty spot with the final kick of the match.

Jets continue their preparations for the PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues 2016 season in the Macron Cup this Saturday against fellow Moreton Bay Region club Peninsula Power.
