Fan Favourites Back For Heat

Fan favourites Cameron Nucifora and Charlie Beverley are the latest confirmed re-signings for FNQ Heat’s PlayStation®4 National Premier Leagues 2016 squad.
The duo are foundation players at Heat and products of the FNQ Centre of Excellence, transitioning to the club for the inaugural PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues season in 2013.
19-year-old attacking midfielder Nucifora (pictured) was part of the PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland Under 23 All-Stars team in 2015 and has amassed 51 league appearances for Heat since 2013.
He said he was looking forward to pushing on this season and hopefully come to the attention of clubs in the Foxtel National Youth League.
“I was one of the youngest at the start. I have grown with the club,” Nucifora explained.
“Now with that experience I don’t feel as nervous going into a game and am a bit more relaxed than some of the boys that haven’t played as much.”
“Hopefully that helps me to have a good season and perform well and consistently and maybe then go on from there.”
Defensive utility Beverley, 21, boasts 38 league appearances with Heat and said the squad was responding well to working under new coach Tim Campbell.
“Tim has come in and put his stamp down and is not taking any nonsense – if they don’t agree with what he wants to do then it’s the highway,” Beverley explained.
“But it’s still new and I think the first week went pretty well. Next week we will step it up a bit again and go from there.”
“We have a few pre-season matches coming up against local sides, and maybe a game in Townsville, and it will be good to just get out there.””
Both agreed the comradery within the club was crucial to returning to finals football this season and maintaining Heat's impressive record in the Westfield FFA Cup, where they have twice reached the national Round of 32.
“In that (2014) season in particular we got together well off the field. We were a really tight knit team and that helped us on the pitch,” Beverley said.
“If we do the same this year then we can definitely push for a title and get into the finals. We let ourselves down last year by coming so close but not making it,” he concluded.
