Western Pride shared the spoils in front of goal in a see-sawing 4-3 win over defending Brisbane Premier League Champions Peninsula Power at Kippen Park.

Triallists Geoff Macintyre, Shaun Core, Jordan Lambi and Daniel Callaghan all scored for Graham Harvey’s side in their first official pre-season fixture following a mid-week training match against Brisbane Roar Youth.

Pride claimed the early advantage via a long-range range lob from ex-Broadbeach United player Macintyre, but fell behind midway through the half as Power struck twice through Chris Swain and Charles Mendy.

The hosts drew level from a corner prior to the break as the opportunistic Core - who made 15 PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland starts for Pride in 2015 - pounced after Power blocked an attempt on the goal line.

Mendy restored Power’s advantage from the penalty spot after the restart, however the lead again proved short-lived as Pride responded either side of the hour – Brisbane Roar youth product Lambi and former Olympic FC youth player Callaghan both delivering composed one-on-one finishes to round out the result.

Harvey expressed his content with the early pre-season performance and suggested several players had furthered their claims to be part of the 2016 squad.

“To score 4 goals is good and gives the boys a bit of confidence and shows some benefits from what we have worked on in the last few weeks at training,” Harvey concluded.
