Brisbane City have signed left sided utility Scot Coulson from near neighbours Brisbane Strikers for the PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland 2016 season.

The 20-year-old Coulson, who was previously part of Brisbane Roar’s youth system, spent the first three seasons of PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland with Strikers - making a total of 60 league appearances and scoring 13 goals.

Coulson becomes City’s eighth confirmed signing for new City coach John Kosmina during the PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland off-season.

The announcement follows a difficult 2015 for Coulson outside of football - which included the passing of his mother following a battle with cancer - and he said 2016 was the time to make a change.

“It’s been a very tough year for me personally and I was just looking for a fresh start,” he explained.

“It’s been a fantastic experience for me at Strikers and I can’t thank them enough for helping me and my family through a very difficult part of my life.”

Coulson said he was looking forward to being part of City’s much promised renaissance following a lean couple of years for the former National Soccer League outfit.

“I think City’s a big club and they have a big future and they are putting in place some plans for the club and the team and I’m really excited by the opportunity."

Despite being equally capable in both the attacking and defensive thirds, Coulson said he was unsure precisely how Kosmina sees him slotting into the formation.

“I will be going wherever I am told to go. As long as I get to play I will be happy,” Coulson concluded.

Coulson is the second player confirmed as departing Strikers this week, with midfielder Josh Ahern unveiled as a new signing by Brisbane Premier League outfit Lions FC.
