CHELSEA BELCHER BACK FOR NBL1

The Joondalup Wolves are excited to announce the re-signing of Chelsea Belcher for the 2021 NBL1 West season.

Chelsea has played for the Wolfpack since she was 10 years old, over the past 13 years Chelsea has developed skills and qualities that make her an asset to the Wolfpack. The 5’7’ guard averaged 12 points and a field goal percentage of over 40%, while improving her defence and becoming a true two-way player during the 2020 West Coast Classic season. Chelsea helped the Women’s team win the 2020 WCC Championship and her commitment to improve on both scoring and defence is one to watch in the 2021 NBL1 West season.

Chelsea spoke to the Joondalup Wolves on her thoughts about re-signing for 2021.

“I have been playing basketball for the Wolfpack since I was 10 years old and have met so many great coaches, players and supporters along the way. Being a part of the Joondalup Wolfpack for 13 years and witnessing the transition from SBL to NBL1 is extra motivation to help the team strive for further success. I’m looking forward to a bigger and better season with an awesome bunch of girls, coaching staff, and the best supporters in the league cheering us on. “

Joondalup Wolves Women’s Head Coach Charles Nix shared his thoughts on Chelsea re-signing for the NBL1 West season.

“In my time at the Wolves I’ve been so impressed with Chelsea; I threw a different role at her and she has embraced it with both hands and really ran with it over the last two years. I believe she is an elite scorer in our league and can do that in so many ways, but what I’ve been most impressed with is her commitment to improvement on defence and felt like that was a real strength of hers last year. When Chels comes into games she impacts immediately on both sides of the ball and is become a real vocal leader really understanding what makes us tick as a team. As with a lot of our squad she is still very young and getting better so the ceiling is nowhere near reached with her yet, and it’s a scary thought for opposition wings.”

“Chelsea is a Wolves person, and it shows with how passionate she is about our group and the standards that we are holding each other too. She’ll keep developing in her role and continue to be a really important piece for us.” Added Nixy.

Chelsea will be joining Kayla Steindl, Nes’eya Williams, Izzy Miotti and Georgia Denehey on the Wolves Women’s roster in 2021.
