Injured players to go through paces

Yoogali is set to roll the dice on three of its injured players for Sunday's North Eastern Soccer League Grand Final against Shepparton, two of whom had been ruled out for the season earlier in the year.

Co-captain Pat Ciampa, striker Ryan Spencer and midfielder Stevie Crombie will all have their fate decided at training and will travel to Tatura Park with the Yoogali side regardless of their fitness.

Ciampa said he expected to play a part against Shepparton whether it was off the bench or as a starter.

"Being one of the captains I feel a responsibility to the team, I'll be out on the park at some stage," Ciampa said.

"We've got training tonight to put all the injured players through their paces."

Ciampa and most of his teammates were at the Yoogali Leagues Club to watch Shepparton's upset 1-0 win over Hanwood in last weekend's preliminary final.

"Shepparton played a controlled game and didn't push too early, against us they may have gone for it a bit too quickly," Ciampa said.

"They seemed to steady the game and play their style and that's what got them through.

"I expect Shepparton to attack us more though and try to hit us early like they did in the qualifying final, but right now we're focused on how we play and won't change our ways."

Ciampa said fans from Griffith had jumped on board the team's bandwagon and would make their way down to Victoria.

"From what I hear there's a supporters' bus coming down, so we should get a good following away from home," he said.

"It would have been nice to play Hanwood in a derby for the title, but Shepparton has shown they deserve to be in the grand final."
