NEWS: Coaching Applications now open for 2018 Geelong Junior Country Championships teams

EXPRESSIONS of interest are now open for coaches and assistant coaches for the Geelong Region junior country championship teams which will participate at next year's Victorian Country Championships in Shepparton on the Queen's Birthday weekend (June 9-11, 2018).

BOYS:
U11 Southern Hub (9v9) Format (players born 2007)
U11 Northern Hub (9v9) Format (players born 2007)
U12 (9v9) Format (To Be confirmed) (players born 2006)
U13 (11v11) Format (players born 2005)
U14 (11v11) Format (players born 2004)
U15 (11v11) Format (players born 2003)
U16 (11v11) Format (players born 2002)
U17/U18 (age group to be confirmed) (11v11) Format (players born 2001/002)

GIRLS:
U12 (9v9) Format (To Be confirmed) (players born 2006/2007)
U14 (11v11) Format (players born 2004/2005)
U16 (11v11) Format (players born 2002/2003)

Accreditation/Requirements:
Head Coaches must hold a current recognised FFA coaching accreditation (Minimum Skill Acquisition Certificate) and current working with children check.
Assistant Coaches must hold (or booked to achieve) a current recognised FFA coaching accreditation (Minimum Grassroots Certificate) and current working with children check.
Young development coaches will be considered for assistant roles without accreditation, (Please provide details of playing/football experience and coaching aspirations)
Please note: It is preferred that coaches apply for squads which would not potentially include direct family ie sons/daughters etc).

Tournament Information and Preparation:
Players will be identified from 3 trials which will take place in February 2018.
Objective data will be supplied by GOFC on player selection to assist with development selection. Development squad selections will be at the head coaches discretion but with the full agreement of GOFC/GRFC nominated representatives.
From the 3 trials a development squad of 24 players (22 players for 9v9 squads) for each age group will be selected. Each squad will have at least 2 training session plus either an additional session or practice match which will assist in the coaches’ final squad selection.
The final squads of 16 (14 for 9v9 squads) will be named after this 3rd session/match. Final squads will be at the head coaches discretion but with the full agreement of GOFC/GRFC nominated representatives.
The final squads will then complete 5 training sessions commencing week of Monday April 30th
Additional sessions/matches can be organised by the coaches but the remuneration will be as outlined below.
The Tournament will be held over Saturday 9th, Sunday 10th and Monday 11th June at Shepparton.


Coaches and Assistants will be required to:
Attend coaches information night in December 2017
Assist with organisation/dates/venues of Trials.
Attend 3 trials in February (Mandatory for their squad) and assist with the identification of other squads. (Trial formats to be discussed prior to commencement and agreed upon by all coaches, identification process and documents to be supplied)
In conjunction with GOFC, identify and confirm the development squad of 24 (22 9v9) players.
Plan and conduct the 2 (3) development sessions in Feb/March (venues and dates/times are the responsibility of the coaches) Coaches will also need to provide their own equipment if possible.
Potentially organise suitable practice match, Venue and timing, on match day ensure adequate/equal playing time/player positioning to ensure all players are given equal opportunity to progress to the next stage.
Liaise with GOFC to confirm the final squad of 16 (14 9v9).
Provide a brief written feedback report for the players who missed out on the final selection outlining strengths and weaknesses (template will be supplied).
Plan and conduct the 5 pre-tournament training sessions in May/June (Venues and dates/times are the responsibility of the coaches). Coaches will also need to provide their own equipment if possible.
Manage the squad for the 2018 Country Championships in Shepparton – Note there is no requirement for equal playing time or amount of game starts BUT all players must receive a minimum amount of game time every game.
For U11 – U14 Boys, and all girls’ ages this is 50% of game time.
U15/U16 Boys minimum of 25 minutes of game time.
U17/U18 Boys TBC
Coaches to provide their own equipment for the weekend including 3 match balls, and warm up equipment.
Provide a brief written feedback report for all players outlining strengths and weaknesses (template will be supplied)

Remuneration:
Coaches and Assistant coaches will receive payments for the sessions and expenses towards the weekend. (Coaches are responsible for their own transport and accommodation).
Coaches - Up to $1200
Assistant coaches - Up to $700
A full breakdown of the remuneration will be provided on agreement. (Any non-attendance of agreed sessions/matches etc will not be paid).
Please note a coaches’ assistance fund will be set up in 2018 which will provide up to $50 (head) $25 (assistant) toward squad fees if full squads are not achieved.
