NEWS: Medical Advisory Board seeking volunteers to participate in filming of online resource library

THE NEWLY created GRFC Medical Advisory Board is seeking 10 footballers of all ages, genders and levels from a variety of local clubs to participate in the filming of a new online video resource library.

The group, which consists of several Geelong based health and fitness industry professionals and is convened by podiatrist Paul Graham from Total Care Podiatry, is planning on filming a series of short instructional videos on general football specific stretches and exercise that will be available for use by the local football community as on online resource.

According to Dr Graham, the Board is an advisory group to the Geelong Region Football Committee and involves the Board members volunteering their time and expertise to assisting the local clubs with improving their knowledge base with regards to off field player development issues such as strength and conditioning, improving general fitness and basic injury prevention and management.

“Approximately 10 individuals are urged to volunteer no more than 15-20 minutes of their time on the morning of Saturday 13th May, when filming will take place at Howard Glover Reserve in East Geelong,” he said.

“All participants are asked to wear their club’s kit, so as to provide a little bit of positive publicity for their respective clubs and we are urgiung any interested persons to secure their spot and let us know asap.

Our Strength and Conditioning expert, Col Hamilton, will then allocate them an exercise or stretch to learn before the day. It will take no more than 30-45 seconds and we expect each person to perform no more than 2-3 exercises/stretches each,” he added.

Any interested person who would like to be filmed performing these exercises in their club kit, is asked to send an email with their name and contact details to the FFV Regional Administrator Tonci Prusac at tprusac@ffv.org.au
