In what was an intriguing contest, the home side in the end brushed Drysdale aside rather easily, coming away with a comfortable 4-1 win against the visitors.

At half time the game was much closer with the scoreboard reading 2-1 in favour of the home team, but in the second half the Rangers’ women turned it up a notch to pull away and seal what proved to be quite an easy win for the hosts.

Newly promoted Bell Park took on last season’s third placed Surf Coast at the Bell Park Sports Club on Saturday afternoon.

The visitors had the better of the hosts in the first time, as Surf Coast found themselves in the lead at the break. The hosts weren’t letting the visitors get the better of them, however, with the game eventually finishing 2-2. Mary Gazis and Monique Medved were amongst the Bell Park scorers, while Emma Jensen and Tia Rozec found the back of the net for the visitors.

At Grovedale Reserve, Barwon hosted Deakin Ducks in the traditional derby as well as the highly anticipated Grand Final replay.

In a high scoring and thrilling encounter, the Ducks went into the interval holding sway with a narrow 1-0 lead but they couldn’t go on with it, with the final score ending in a 3-3 stalemate.

Caitlin Bishop, Hannah Gordon and Chelsea Joel all scored a goal apiece for Deakin, while Anika O’Callaghan, Jessica Kenyon and Briahna Telford all helped Barwon to come away with a point.

Kardinia International College had yet another bye and will play their first league game for the season in Round 3 next weekend.

Following the completion of Round 2, Deakin Ducks and Bell park lead the competition with four points each, followed by Geelong Rangers on three points in third spot.
