Excellently compered by Ralph Barba, who is one quarter of the popular and long running radio football quartet “The Four Diegos”, the two and a half hour function was held in the Captain’s Room at Simonds Stadium.

It brought together the cream of the Geelong business community with officials from both the Geelong and state football communities, as well as several well known local politicians and members of local football royalty.

FFV Chief Executive Maxwell Gratton was the first to address the gathering, followed by State MP Christine Couzens, who was representing the Victorian State Sports Minister John Eren.

This was followed by an engaging discussion from a star studded panel, which included ex-Socceroos and local boys Steve Horvat and Josip Skoko, as well as the Chairwoman of the Geelong Region Football Committee and renowned local businesswoman Jo Plummer.

Finally, the microphone was handed to the keynote speaker for the morning and another local product John Didulica. Geelong born Didulica, who has an impressive list of achievements in the football industry as a player, coach and administrator, is currently the Chief Executive Officer of the Professional Footballers’ Association.

He took the enthralled audience on an historical journey, highlighting the significance of the sport of football both internationally and from a more personal level locally.

This morning’s event was sponsored by ElectricityWizard, Taubmans Paints and Geelong Connected Communities.

There will be more reports from this morning’s event, as well as photographs from the event’s official photographer Mark Avellino still to come. Stay tuned to the following two websites: www.footballfedvic.com.au
