NEWS: Galaxy to host special FIFA11+ training session for junior female players from Geelong region

GALAXY United Football Club will on Saturday host a special Football Federation Victoria run FIFA 11+ Workshop specifically for junior female footballers from the entire Geelong region at Banyul Warri Reserve in Torquay North, starting at 2:30pm.

Knee injuries are the most common type of injury among female football players with the risk peaking at 16 years of age. In addition, female football players are up to four times more likely to experience an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear than their male counterparts.

These statistics paint a frightening picture and it is clear that young female football players are at an extremely high risk of injury.

As a result, the FIFA 11+ program is a specifically designed warm up and strengthening sequence that is designed to prevent lower limb injuries and develop stronger football players. It has been proven to reduce injuries in female players by up to 50 percent.

To be held at 2.30pm on the adjoining football oval, the clinic will allow most of the Geelong community junior girls to attend after their local league commitments and will also allow participation from the Galaxy’s own U13’s and U15’s teams, who will have completed their morning matches.

The event will conclude in time for the kick-off of the WNPL Senior game between Galaxy United and reigning champions Calder United at 4pm.

All Geelong Region female players, coaches and administrators associated with female teams are invited to attend and participate. It is an entirely practical session so please dress appropriately. All attendees are required to register for the session via this form https://form.jotform.com/71998415507972
