NEWS: GRFC champs to play off in new Men's and Women's Victorian Champions' tournament in 2017!

THE WINNER of this year’s GRFC Men’s and Women’s Division One competitions will have even more to play for, after it was revealed that they will be invited to participate in an inaugural Victorian Regional Champions’ tournament later this year!

At the Country League’s Football Association (CLFA) meeting held last week in Traralgon, the subject of the senior Men and Women’s league winners country championship weekend was discussed.

According to the Geelong region’s representative on the CLFA, Pete Bradley, it looks like this will go ahead in 2017.

“Bendigo have offered to host the weekend once the respective regional seasons have finished,” Bradley excitedly relayed the latest developments.

“This means that the League 1 winners for the Senior Male and female teams from each region will be invited to take part in this inaugural country championships,” he added.

At the moment, following the completion of Round 8 in the local league, Barwon heads the Men’s Division 1 ladder by four points from second placed Breakwater Eagles, while Drysdale are narrowly atop the Women’s First Division by just two points from last year’s Premiers Deakin Ducks.
