NEWS: Dale Harris appointed Barwon SC senior coach for 2017

BARWON SC is delighted to announce that its Senior Men's Division 1 coach for 2017 will be Dale Harris. Dale has an impressive record as a player and a coach, with a promising playing career in the South African Premier League brought to a premature end due to a serious leg injury.

Harris then coached in South Africa’s Premier Women’s League for three years before moving to Australia in 2009. Since then he has had coaching stints at Ballarat Red Devils, Geelong Rangers and Lara, coaching their 1st teams in the Victorian State Leagues.

The Barwon committee was very impressed with his ambition and enthusiasm for the role and both parties have agreed that Barwon will be applying for entry into State League 5 for the 2018 season.

"Dale has a proven track record in giving youth a chance, and his appointment will provide a pathway for the club’s talented junior players to continue their playing career at a higher level. Dale will also be the club's Senior Technical Director, and be responsible for overseeing the coaching and development of the Under 15 and Under 17 boys, as well as our Men’s Division 1, 2 and 3 teams," the club said in an official statement on Monday.

"Pre-season training and trials will commence on Tuesday 3rd January, with further details to follow. All existing and potential new players are welcome to attend as we begin an exciting new chapter in what will be our 25th anniversary year. We will also be looking to arrange a meet the coaches social day in December, time and date to be confirmed.

"This appointment builds on the effort put into our Miniroos program in recent seasons and our alliance with Arsenal Soccer Schools. With the large number of older girls and women now playing, the committee appreciates that the female teams also need a dedicated coaching structure, and details of this will be announced in due course," concluded the official Barwon SC statement.
