NEWS: GRFC Women’s Division One – Round 12 Report

GEELONG SC hosted Drysdale at Stead Park and lost 4-0 to an impressive individual performance by Serena Clapp, who scored all four goals in the opening half of the GRFC Women’s Division One Round 12 encounter last Saturday.

The undermanned Geelong side is yet to record a win this season, while on the other side of the fence, Serena Clapp now leads the Women’s Division 1 golden boot standings with 17 goals.

Barwon SC and Kardinia College had a close matchup which ended in a 2-2 stalemate. The two teams played a hard and tough game, with each trying to claim 2nd spot on the ladder. Liana Banjanin and Alyse Lyndal Cook were the two goalscorers for Barwon while Sofia Harrop scored a brace for Kardinia.

The drawn results sees Kardinia maintain their outright second position, just one point ahead of the third placed Barwon.

The final game of the round between Deakin Ducks and Surfside Waves was forfeited and the ensuing 3-0 result awarded to Deakin.

In Round 13 action this coming weekend, the highlight will be all Student Derby between top side Deakin Ducks and second placed Kardinia International College.

This matchup will be staged at Deakin University’s Waurn Ponds campus on Saturday at 3.00pm.

The other Round 13 match-ups include the highly anticipated Bellarine Derby between Drysdale and Surfside Waves at Howard Glover Reserve, while Geelong will host Barwon at Stead Park. Both games will kick off at 3pm.
