NEWS: Number of registered football coaches set to rise by 10% in 2016

LAST year there was a total of 2,663 coaches who were coaching football teams from Under 5s right up to Seniors throughout the many Victorian leagues, according to the latest data released by Football Federation Victoria.

According to the figures released this week, there were a total of 2,472 male coaches while only 191 female coaches were registered. The FFV is aiming to increase the number of coaches in Victorian football competitions by at least 10% with a large focus being on increasing the number of female coaches in our game.

Adding to the support network, if coaches register through the My Football website, they will all receive an email which will provide them with resources and basic guidelines for becoming a successful coach in 2016.

Locally, all coaches in the Geelong region are urged to become a member – active or inactive – of the soon to be launched Geelong Region Coaches’ Association.

An informal body that is aimed at developing the level of football coaches in the local region, the Geelong Region Coaches’ Association will aim to provide members with an assortment of benefits from networking and professional development to providing a variety of resources and guest speakers.

For more information, or to register your interest in the group, email the FFV Zone Development Officer, Foddy Kyprian, at fkyprian@ffv.org.au

As far as upcoming coaching courses are concerned, the Senior Coaching Certificate (designed for coaching players 17+) will be held on Saturday March 19th and Sunday March 20th. Both days will run from 8.30am-3.30pm.
