NEWS: Surfside Waves to go ‘pink’ in aid of breast cancer charity

SURFSIDE Waves are going PINK! The progressive Ocean Grove based football club is hosting a special 'Pink Sock Round' charity event this coming weekend (28-30th of August) in aid of the Barwon Heads/Ocean Grove Breast Cancer Support network.


The Round 17 weekend of the GRFC Junior, Women's and Men's leagues has been earmarked for a special club-wide fundraiser which will see all Surfside Waves players wear special pink socks for all their home matches.

There will be raffle prizes, a silent auction, BBQs, cake stalls and lots more, all in recognition of the very valuable cause of raising funds to aid research into finding a cure for breast cancer as well as helping the support network that help provide meals and valuable support to sufferers and their families.

All teams taking part in the games Shell Road Reserve, over the course of the weekend, will compete for the inaugural Breast Cancer Awareness Trophy.

The 
Friday night games will see the Men's Division Three team kick-off the campaign with a clash against the St Leonards based Bellarine Sharks at 6:30pm. This will be followed by the Senior Women's game against Surf Coast FC at 7:30pm, concluding with the main game, the Men's Division One game between the Waves and Drysdale SC.

On Sunday, the Boys' Under 12s take on Geelong Rangers 
at 9:00am, the Under 15s take on Bellarine Sharks also at 9:00am, while the Under 13s will conclude the weekend with a clash against Lara SC at 11:00am.

All proceeds from the weekend will go to supporting Barwon Heads/Ocean Grove (BH/OG) Breast Cancer Support network.
