GALA WEEKEND GREAT SUCCESS

Scone Basketball Association hosted a trial/friendly basketball games and and coaching/development clinic with the Tamworth Association on 7-8 March at the Scone Basketball stadium. The aim of the weekend was to give our U14 & U16 players an opportunity to train and play against The Tamworth Thunderbolt boy’s representative players and showcase our recently renovated Scone Basketball Stadium facilities.

It was a huge success with our local juniors participating in the training session conducted by training and coaching masterclass, Matt Hobson, who is heavily involved with the Tamworth representative basketball and the Northern Inland Academy (NIAS). Matt was very impressed with the enthusiasm and talent of our local association juniors and was ably assisted by Matt Parsons (Ex Newcastle Knights player).

The Scone U14’s played 2 games with a win and a loss in tightly contested games against Tamworth U14’s. The Scone U16’s played the Scone U18’s Rep side and Tamworth Thunderbolt U16’s Div 1 side. While the experience of the Tamworth Thunderbolts showed through our players gained a lot out of the matches and the training session. Thanks to the Tamworth Basketball Association for your support of our Scone Association.. Thanks to our association members, coaches and referees who worked tirelessly to ensure the weekend was a success.

On Sunday the Scone U18’s Rep side ‘(Scone Stallions) completed a solid hit out against the Tamworth Thunderbolt U16’s Div 1 side. This was a good practice session for The Scone Stallions in the lead up for their first game on 15th March in the 2020 EJL Waratah League.

This is the first year in a very long time that our Association has entered a team in representative Basketball. The team is Harrison Atkinson, Carl Bienvenido, Zachary Cadalbert, Zahn Keir, Jakob Malone, Clancy Mullen, Doarte Ortega, Max Seale & Brody Pittman. Good luck boys for the representative season.

Congratulations to some of our younger juniors that are keen to play representative basketball and travel to Tamworth regularly to train and play in other age groups.
