Under the bright lights of Pioneers a really good roll up of mums and dads as well as new and old Sinners attended for the much awaited clash. The sinners were looking to keep their 100% win record for 2014 intact with it being their first game of the year!!! A good crowd rolled up, must of been 25 at least, most of which were barts cheer squad, as Chitty wasnt there so the womens auxillary had the night off!!
It ended up being around 20 each on the ground but it felt ike 30 each as there were bodies everywhere around the ball and little room to move. It was great to see so many mums and girls playing.
The sinners got off to a flyer kicking the first four goals of the game , courtesy of smartplay from Big Jas, Pauly Gann and our pysio yves feeding Baz and others for majors. (Baz leading the sinners coleman medal by the way). The goals kept coming and the ball was camped in the sinners forward fifty and there were about fifty players in that forward fifty.
The second quarter saw a couple of sinners swap over to the aus kickers and it paid dividends as the aus kickers started to get a bit of confidence and continuity, the second quarter was much more even and the auskickers won the quarter.
Half time couldnt come quick enough for the sinners as the auskickers were storming. Under the tutilage of barts the auskickers were gaining in confidence and felt they had the sinners measure. A fair bit of banter occured at the halftime break and things heated up at the commencment of play.
The break didn't help the sinners as the auskickers continued to attack and began to score at will. The girls were on fire scoring goals and setting up plays. The sinners just couldnt get the pill out of thier defensive fifty. Our leader baz was off injured barking instructions from the sideline. Everyone was staying out of connors way as he was like a dog with rabbies frothing at the mouth everytime the ball was within his grasp, knocking men and women to get at the pill.
At three quarter time there was less than a kick in it. Both sides walked back for the last quarter with sinners very concerned, just as the ball bounced a few specks of rain fell and one sinner said to his oponent, "gees it would be a pity if the lights turned off right now" well thats exactly what happened, must of been divine intervention as the rain came down hard the lights flicked off and that was it.
Snners win by four points..Everyone raced back to the clubhouse for a BBQ, Beers and banter as they watched the AFL. A really good night and apart from Baz tweeking his hamy, no other injuries. Look forward to the next game later in the year.
