Jim Tooley: “The tournament has been terrific”

USA Basketball CEO Jim Tooley answered our questions about 3 on 3 basketball and World Children’s Games.


What do you think about the World Children’s Games 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament?

The tournament has been terrific, I have been here a short time but I want you to congratulate the Turkish Basketball Federation for organizing and supporting such a tournament.


You have been here for a workshop about 3 on 3 basketball for two days. What kind of development do you expect for 3 on 3 basketball in the future?

3 on 3 will help to spread basketball to the worldwide. All the countries can compete in 3 on 3 basketball . Actually, it is a much more competitive branch of basketball. We hope it will spread worldwide.


You are testing FIBA Organizer and Stadium Scorıng software here. What do you think about the outcome of the tests?

The software has been very effective so far and we continue to progress and work on it to cater it to 3 on 3. The solutıon ıs going to be very helpful to promoters and event organizers as we contınue to develop it wıth SportingPulse.


Lastly, what do you think about the matches and competition level of U14 age?

I think there is tremendous talent here. Almost every country has very good athletes. It is exciting to watch some countries which cannot participate ın International tournaments often. This tournament has given us the opportunity to watch these countries here.
