More than 1000 competitors are taking part in the Micronesian Games, which get underway in Palau today
Domestic athletes will be joined by sportsmen and women from Guam,
the Marshall Islands, Kiribati, Nauru, the Northern Marianas, and the
Federated States of Micronesia.
Standard sports like basketball and baseball will be played,
alongside traditional sports including spearfishing and an outrigger
canoe event.
