2021-22 HIGH PERFORMANCE PROGRAM INFORMATION AND CHANGES
Basketball Northern Territory are pleased to announce key changes to the 2021-22 High Performance Development program streams. Click below for a video presentation explaning these key changes.
In summary the key changes to the high performance development stream are:
* Their will now be 2 separate development programs for U18 Boys and Girls and U16 Boys and Girls
TERRITORY PERFORMANCE PROGRAM (2022 - U18 ATHLETES)
A maximum of 22 Under 18 athletes will be selected to the Territory Performance Program (TPP). This group will practice together for approximately 8 weeks before a selection announcement. One Boys and one girls team of 10 will be selected from the TPP to represent the NT at the U18 Australian Junior Championships, the remaininging athletes will represent the NT at the South Australian Country Championships.
The TPP will finish at the completion of the Championships and then will be serviced via home programs through to 30 June 2022.
TERRITORY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM (2022 - U16 ATHLETES)
A maximum of 22 Under 18 athletes will be selected to the Territory Development Program (TDP). This group will practice together for approximately 8 weeks before a selection announcement. One Boys and one girls team of 10 will be selected from the TDP to represent the NT at the U16 Australian Junior Championships in July, the remaininging athletes will represent the NT at the South Australian Country Championships in March/April.

INTERSTATE BASED ATHLETES
For selection to the 2022 Australian Junior Championships teams the player must reside in the Northern Territory for the duration of the TPP or TDP. The only exception to this requirement is if the interstate based Northern Territory athlete is a member of the State or National Performance Program in the State or Territory whih they reside. If they are not a particpant in either of those programs then the athlete will not be eligible for Northern Territory selection. The normal rules of parent residency remain in place as per previous selection guidelines.
