Top End Tour 2009
Hoops 4 Health offers programs to communities in the Northern Territory. Hoops 4 Health has a group of facilitators with experience in youth work, community development, sport and recreation and health work. Hoops 4 Health recently completed 'The Top End Tour' which focussed on the following communities in the Western Arnhem and Douglas Daly Regions of the Northern Territory. Without the suport of the Australian Red Cross through FAHCSIA this tour would not have come to fruition.
Hoops 4 Health also visited communities in Central Australia during March with the support of the Northern Territory Government.
Some well known sports personalities were involved in the recent visits including:
Olympian and Brisbane Bullets Legend Leroy Loggins, 3 Time World Boxing Champion Anthony Mundine and former NBA Player Andre Moore.
Hoops 4 Health delivered programs in Jabiru, Minjalang, Warruwi, Maningrida, Daly River, Wadeye, Oenpelli and Pine Creek.
Programs are tailored to suit the communities needs and issues relating to Indigenous youth.
All using the sport of basketball as a vehicle.
