Hoops Ready to Rock the Red Centre

It will be an extravaganza of basketball in Alice Springs next week. The 3rd Hoops 4 Health (H4H) Challenge to be held on Friday night highlights the week of basketball action.

Some of the best Indigenous basketballers in the land will be on display and facilitating sessions for Hoops 4 Health Aboriginal Corporation. Sessions will be held at Yirara School and at Traeger Park Basketball Stadium.

The Hoops 4 Health Challenge to be played on Friday night is the showcase event and the Hoops 4 Health Organisation advocates for Indigenous Youth using the sport of basketball. The event is funded by the Northern Territory Government.

“Hoops 4 Health will be looking to provide a positive feel for all participants and spectators of the Challenge. Basketball is one of most played sports in Indigenous communities in the Territory. We want to provide the youth of Alice Springs with and opportunity to participate in our program and use the sport of basketball as the vehicle to deliver our message.”
Timmy Duggan, Director, Hoops 4 Health

Deba George of the Cairns Taipans, former NBA player, Andre Moore and local Alice Springs product, Willy Foster are some of the big guns playing for the H4H All Stars. The H4H All Stars face the Alice Springs Mens Team who will be gunning for a victory after last year’s narrow loss.

3 time Brisbane Lions Premiership player, Darryl White will also make a special guest appearance.

Basketball Northern Territory will also provide clinics and sessions for coaches on Saturday and Sunday.

Entry into the H4H Challenge is free with doors opening at the Traeger Park Stadium at 6pm.
