There was a changing of the guard at the Gippsland Umpires Association annual general meeting, with Glen Frost taking the reigns as president.
Outgoing president Chris Behrendorff, who had served in the role for four years, had not sought re-election.
In taking the presidency, Frost said he was motivated to take on the leadership to continue Gippsland Umpire Association’s good work of leading young people in the community.
Frost heads a new-look committee for the GUA, with Bruce Pratt stepping up from an ordinary member role to fill the position of vice-president.
Carolyn Mills and Rob Logan join as new faces to the committee, taking on roles of secretary and ordinary member respectively with Davyd Reid and Terry Stroud not seeking re-election.
Former vice-president Peter Heywood was re-elected as ordinary member, with Jamie Warden also re-elected for a one-year term.
Treasurer Geoff Legge and Football Operations Manager Rod Gillett will continue with the second year of their respective terms in 2018.
Following official proceedings Gillett announced coaching appointments, with Paul Vaughan (head coach), Davyd Reid (boundary umpire coach), Josh Nooy (assistant field umpire coach) and Gerard Boland (fitness coach) all signed for season 2018.
Gillett also unveiled a new and improved development strategy, which will allow for a greater number of resources for developing umpires.
The GUA Social Club then conducted its annual general meeting, with no change to its committee.
Peter Heywood (president), Rob Logan (vice-president), Gillian Legge (secretary), Geoff Legge (treasurer), Daniel Webster and Will Tindle (ordinary members) were all elected unopposed.
Social Club secretary Gillian Legge said the social club was considering its options for a season launch function to be held in February, while a survey monkey will be sent to members to gain ideas for other social functions.
The social club also hope to complete a grant application for a commercial dish washer, which would also benefit other user groups at Bellbird Park.
