Friends and family came out in full force as they do each week in support of the Thursday night junior men’s program. Both teams shook off the nerves during warm ups and stepped on to the court with a look of focus in their eyes.
The Roos would strike first on the back of a Sam Potts field goal much to the delight of his Roos teammates and fans. Cougars coach Gavin Male had his team well drilled and they responded well to all of the Roos early moves and opened up a 9-point first quarter lead.
Cougar Kane Downie was everywhere during the contest but most importantly he was putting points on the board leading his side and all scorers with 25 points from the inside and out.
The Roos were valiant but had no answers as the Cougars cruised to a 44 to 19 victory.
An emotional and proud Gavin Male announced to his team that he would be stepping down as head coach, a great way for someone who has given so much of his time to go out on top.
