MG Plasterers SECBL Results Round 6 Winter 2021

Men

Cougars 89 (T de Wit 53, D Kuring 14) defeated Roos 69 (M Bachmann 23, C Bachmann 19)

This was clearly the Toby de Wit show from the onset of this game opening all scores with a three pointer. The Roos managed to keep the game scrappy and even after the first quarter with both sides sitting on 12 apiece. 43 of de Wits 53 points came in the next three quarters and the Roos simply had no answer for him as he sliced his way through their defence finding openings whenever he wanted. Mark Bachmann showed his class for the Roos for 23 points, however his side would go down by 20 points.

Panthers 54 (R Hein 16, O Thompson 16) defeated Saints 44 (H Mules 12, B Wilson 11)

The Panther secured back to back wins in this low scoring game with the Saints. Both teams struggled to find openings and easy shots as the defence dominated this contest. Rob Hein and Oli Thompson of the Panthers came up big with 16 valuable points each, while young star Harry Mules of the Saints worked hard for his 12 points.

Women

Cats 90 (L Denton 37, G Winter 36) defeated Cougars 54 (E Dawe 17, C Horrigan 14)

The Cougars suffered their first loss of the season delivered by the Cats. The Cats were on a mission in this game. The Cats increased their lead after every break winning by a comfortable 36. Lucy Denton (37 points) and Georgia Winter (36 points) were the stars of the show for the Cats scoring in multiple different ways and providing headaches for the Cougars defence who could not contain the pair. Emily Dawe had a spirited 17 points for the Cougars, however her team could simply not string together enough stops to stay in the contest.

Bulldogs/Roos 84 (E Bouchier 24, S Adams 21, M Griffith 16) defeated Saints 46 (Easterby 13, P Venn 12)

The Bulldogs/Roos got their first win of the season in this contest and they certainly made sure of it. Ellie Bouchier led all scorers with 24 and was well supported by Siobhan Adams with 21. The game was set up by an incredible 16 to 0 first quarter, the Bulldogs/Roos not giving the Saints any time or space. Young Saints stars Eadie Easterby and Poppy Venn showed their upside combining for 25 points.
