MG PLASTERERS SECBL RESULTS

After a lengthy break due to Christmas and New Years the MG Plasterers SECBL competition returned on Wednesday 29th of january. There was a lot of first quarter rust amongst some of the teams before players found their groove as the games progressed.
Performance of the night went to Bulldogs Red player Duncan Reid who led his side to victory over the Cats in Millicent with a total of 40 points to his name. Duncan was unstoppable from all over the court including from beyond the arc where he had five three pointers. Frazer Bradley of the Cats worked hard for his 25 points but it was not enough for his side that went down by three points. Scott O’Connor of the Bulldogs was impressed with his young teammate, ‘Duncan was really efficient all night, highlighted by four straight triples to begin the third quarter.’
The Cougars men had an important win over the Bulldogs blue team to keep themselves in the play off hunt. Tobi de Wit led all scorers with 26 points including five three pointers.
The top placed Panthers were too good for the Roos, Kyle Tipene was too much for the Roos to handle with 34 points with support from Kurt Rodis with 20, Roos first gamer Michael Kout impressed with 18 points for the Roos. Kyle was happy to be back, ‘It felt good to be back on court, we had a slow start but shook off the holiday rust in the second quarter.’
In the women’s competition the Cats made light work of the Bulldogs/Roos, Emily Winter cruised to 19 points to lead all scorers. In a low scoring affair, it was the Panthers defeating the Cougars closing the gap on second place, new player Johanna Jones had 26 points in her first game for the Panthers, Keryl Ousey worked hard for her 27 points for the Cougars.
