MG Plasterers SECBL Round 12

MG Plasterers SECBL Round 12

The top placed Cats took on the fourth placed Bulldogs/Roos, the Cats strengthened by the return of Georgia and Emily Winter. It was however their sister Alana who took control of the game leading with 25 points. Ellen Brown led the way for her side with 16 points, Claire Hunter had 14 and young gun Ellie Bouchier had 14 points. The Cats were able to use their size and experience to stay on top of the younger side and cruise to a thirty-point win.

The Cougars and Panthers faced off in the other women’s game, the Cougars started the game with a 7 – 0 run and managed to increase the lead steadily throughout the game, the Panthers had good contributions with four players managing double figures. It was a big night out for Cougar Mikaela Horrigan who had 32 points including six from the land of plenty, she was well supported by Keryl Ousey with 18 who consistently used her size to her advantage against smaller opponents on both ends of the floor. The Cougars finished with a 17 point win.

There were two games played in the men’s competition, the Panthers took on the Cougars and the Bulldogs Red and Bulldogs Blue had the inter club match up.

The Panthers were simply of fire against the Cougars finishing with 108 points largely due to Pioneer player Brad Rathjen who had 37 points including 10 three pointers. The Panthers finished with five players in double figures and had all the answers throughout the game. Tobi de Wit had a good scoring game for his side finishing with 28 points.

In the Bulldogs v Bulldogs clash it would be the second place Bulldogs Blue side that would come out on top be twelve points. Lachie Hunter and Simon Berkefeld for the Blue side had the perfect inside outside combo working that was proving difficult for the red side to contain, Shaun Lock for the red team had a nice night with 28 points but was not enough to get his side over the line who now find themselves in a battle to hold on to fourth place.
