COVID-19 / Corona Virus Update

Dear Players, Parents, Refs and Supporters,

Like all sport and community group across Australia, Basketball Mount Gambier has been keeping a close watch on the developments and government recommendations regarding Coronavirus.

After discussion over the weekend, the decision has been made to continue competition as scheduled.

The safety of our basketball community is important, and additional restrictions are being put in place, including:

1. Only support personnel and parents are to attend games

2. Anyone who is experiencing symptoms or believe they may have been in contact with someone with the coronavirus should not attend

3. People over the age of 50 should reconsider attending games

5. If you have hand sanitiser and wipes please use prior to entering the stadium, and players will be required to wash their hands with soap and water prior to games commencing.

6. Handshakes, hi-fives and other unnecessary physical contact will not be allowed.

BMG encourages anyone who is feeling unwell, vulnerable, or has recently returned from an affected overseas country, to stay away from the stadium. If any players, parents of players, or refs don’t feel comfortable about playing, please let your coach know as soon as possible and we will support any teams that may want to forfeit. If this is the case, contact the stadium as soon as possible.

Junior Grand Finals Day on March 29 is under review, and it is likely that there will be changes to the format in order to spread the games over a longer period and reduce the number of people attending the stadium at any one time. Details will be confirmed in the coming days.

This is a rapidly changing environment. The virus and potential implications are changing constantly and will be monitored and acted upon accordingly. We will keep you updated as new information comes to hand.
