The TRFM Gippsland League is delighted to announce the appointment of Steven Kidd as coach of its senior interleague football team for 2019.
Steven spent the past four years as senior coach of Warragul Football Netball Club’s senior side and oversaw a dramatic change in the Gulls' fortunes in that time, highlighted by a finals appearance in 2016 – the club’s first since 2008.
The 2016 Gippsland Senior Coach of the Year award winner has also been involved with the senior interleague program previously as an assistant coach and he was excited at the prospect of leading this year’s Worksafe AFL Victoria Community Championships campaign.
“I’m very passionate about the competition and getting us to where we deserve to be,” Kidd said.
“I’m looking forward to the opportunity to coach some of the boys that have caused me some headaches the last few years and can’t wait to get stuck into it.”
The league would also like to take the opportunity to sincerely thank outgoing coach Harmit Singh for his contribution over the past two years.
Due to Eastern Football League’s decision to withdraw from the Community Championships, Harmit’s commitments with EFL club Vermont meant he was not in a position to reapply for the role moving forward.
Harmit’s passion, professionalism and expertise have been key to the ongoing development of the league’s senior representative football program and those that have been part of interleague in that time will have benefitted greatly from his involvement.
The TRFM Gippsland League will take on Central Murray Football Netball League at this year’s Community Championships on Saturday, 18 May.
