TRFM Gippsland League's open netball team kicked off its Regional Victorian Netball League campaign with a thrilling come-from-behind draw with Mid Gippsland Netball Association on Friday night.
The defending champions of the competition formerly known as the Eastern Regional State League went into the first round clash as hot favourites.
However, Mid Gippsland came out firing in the first quarter and led 20-14 at the first break.
Gippsland slowly clawed away at the deficit to be within two goals at the final change and went on to clinch a dramatic draw, 49-49.
Gippsland's 19-and-under and 15-and-under teams kick off their campaigns this Friday night at Latrobe Leisure, Churchill from 7.15pm.
