Round
12 of the Millewa Football League sees two teams battling for fourth spot clash
in a vital midseason encounter.
For both Nangiloc and Meringur, their clash
at Nangiloc Reserve is a crucial one in the context of both clubs seasons.
Both sides are coming off losses from last
weekend, and both missed opportunities to gain the jump on one another in the
race to the finals.
Meringur will be hurting after losing to
the previously winless Cardross, and will be determined to make amends today.
Nangiloc on the other hand will be out to
prove they are the real deal, and a win here could set them on the right path
to their first finals series since coming out of recess.
With both sides so evenly matched, the side
that gets the best start will be in the box seat to claim the victory today.
But the Demons with their pace and speed will start favourites for this one.
At Cardross Reserve, a resurgent Lions
outfit take on the high flying Gol Gol in a match that should prove to be an
interesting encounter.
The Lions caused the upset of the year by
knocking off Meringur last week, and will prove to be a difficult proposition
for teams in the run home.
However, they run into a refreshed Hawks
outfit coming off the bye and full of confidence from the last time these two
sides clashed, when Gol Gol scored a massive 248-point win.
Although the Lions will prove to be a bogey
team for sides hoping to make the finals, the scars from their last encounter
with the Hawks will haunt them, as Gol Gol look to continue their impressive
form with a big win this afternoon.
The final game of the round sees Euston
make the long trip out to Lake Cullulleraine to take on Werrimull.
The reigning premiers returned to form with
a solid win against Nangiloc last week, and will be looking to maintain that
form as they head into the finals.
As for the Pies, they will need to bounce
back after a horrendous showing against Bambill last week, and will be
determined to keep fighting hard for the rest of the season.
But although Werrimull will put in an
improved performance from last week, the Bombers’ pace and class should prove
too much for the Pies in this encounter.
